AI: checking…

Deep dive

This Day in History — verified, then ready to post

Rev History answers “what happened today in history?” for any date of the year. It pulls the day's featured events, famous birthdays, deaths and observances from Wikipedia's editor-curated On this day lists, then checks each fact against its own Wikipedia article and against Wikidata's structured dates. Every fact gets a confidence score and a source link before you publish it.

Frequently asked questions

What happened today in history?

Rev History loads today's date automatically and lists featured events, births, deaths and observances from Wikipedia's On this day lists, each linked to its source article and scored for confidence.

How are the history facts verified?

Each fact is checked three ways: it must appear in Wikipedia's curated date list, its linked article must state the year and day, and Wikidata's structured date must match. Julian-calendar dates are converted before comparing.

Can I add This Day in History to my website?

Yes. Copy the one-line script or iframe from the Widget tab. It shows each visitor today's history and updates itself every day.

Does the AI make up facts?

The AI only receives the source text and is instructed to add nothing. Fact Guard then flags any number or name in the AI's writing that does not appear in the sources, so it can be checked before posting.

Is the content free to reuse?

Fact text comes from Wikipedia under the CC BY-SA 4.0 license, which allows reuse with attribution; every export includes the attribution line. Photo licenses on Wikimedia Commons vary by image.
